We are looking for a friendly and reliable part-time Kitchen Assistant/ Cook 24 hours per week, to work with our kitchen and care teams to provide our residents with a varied, nutritious and appetising menu. You should be able to prepare and serve meals to high standards. Knowledge of various types of diet including diabetic foods and allergies is required and training can be given..
As Cook you will prepare and cook breakfast and delicious home-made biscuits and cakes each day. You will cook the main meal of the day for our residents ensuring choice and preferences are met.
As Kitchen Assistant you will assist the Cook by keeping the kitchen clean and tidy through washing dishes etc. You will prepare trays, drinks and keep the dining room clean and tidy ready for the mealtimes.
Some weekend working is required. An Enhanced DBS check that will be carried out by the company (this will be paid for by the company - but maybe repaid to the company should you leave within a 6-month period)
Key Requirements:
- To plan the menu in consultation with the residents, staff and manager.
- · To order all foods in agreement with the Manager
- · To prepare and serve meals at the agreed time and quality of presentation so they are appealing to the residents.
- · If meals are not eaten discuss with residents and staff reasons and change menu if indicated.
- · To be sensitive to the privacy and individual needs of the residents.
- · To comply with COSHH regulations.
- · To ensure the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment.
- · To follow the correct use of colour code systems within the home
- · To ensure all necessary documentation is completed daily.
- · To maintain standards of infection control within the kitchen area.
- · To oversee and complete the Food Hygiene records for the kitchen
- · Take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and all other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.
- · To be aware of Health and Safety and of COSHH and abide with the company’s health and safety policies
- · Be aware of all emergency contact and procedures, Fire and Health and Safety.
- · To ensure resources are managed effectively
- · To communicate effectively with all parties
- · To be committed to a team ethos across the home
- · To uphold the rights, choices, dignity and the equality and diversity of each resident with a person-centred approach
- · To keep service users safe and well protected at all times
- · Attend and participate in regular formal supervision and appraisal sessions
