Job introduction

We are looking for a cook at our residential short breaks provision Drove Road.
Drove Road cares for young people with complex disabilities, including behaviours of challenge. We currently support 19 young people for overnight short breaks and 2 young people full time.

We have an opportunity for a cook 35 hours per week. At Drove Road the cook will be responsible for planning, ordering and preparing a varied and nutritious diet for the young people and the staff. The cook would also support the young people with their independent living skills by supporting them to choose the foods that they want to eat and help them to prepare these foods in a safe environment.

About the role

The cook at Drove Road will be expected to prepare all meals for young people and staff to a high standard, ensuring a varied and nutritious diet which follows the young people’s care plans and nutritional guidelines. You will support and supervise other staff when using the kitchen area and will be available to assist the young people to prepare their own food to develop their independent living skills.

The cook will need a good knowledge of Health and Safety and Food Hygiene legislation and to ensure a safe working environment, maintain equipment and follow safe-working principles.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
