Working at YMCA MK is more than just a job, it’s a chance to make a difference, an opportunity to be part of making a positive impact on local young people in our community.
Much of the work we do is in our fantastic and vibrant building on North Sixth Street in Milton Keynes, where we provide a welcoming and safe place for our young people to live – somewhere they can feel proud of. But we are more than just one building, we work across the community with the aim that every young person in Milton Keynes has the means and confidence to belong, contribute and thrive.
We are looking for someone to join our Out Of Hours team to provide support to our residents when traditional services are closed. This team works in the crucial out of hours period where residents can often feel at their lowest and need support, empathy and to feel safe. We are looking for individuals who are friendly, caring, and empathetic and can use these skills to effectively manage challenging behaviours and residents who are facing crisis both physically and mentally.
You will have experience of working with vulnerable adults or young people, ideally within a supported housing / homelessness environment or related field. You will be an excellent communicator with good planning and organisational skills along with an ability to motivate young people within a challenging environment. You will most importantly have customer service skills and empathy.
This role is a zero hours contract to cover 12 hour shifts from 20:00 to 08.00 during the week and at weekends, as required. We are particularly keen to find people who can cover Sunday night shifts.
Our team is key to us in achieving our goals and we value and invest in all our employees to ensure that collectively, we provide the best support possible to our young people to help them reach their potential.
