We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Commercial Insurance Broker (Account Executive) to join our Birmingham team. This is a fantastic opportunity to oversee a varied portfolio of commercial clients, offering exposure to new products and professional development.
You will be responsible for broking and managing an existing book of business, focusing on client retention, cross-selling, and upselling opportunities. With a strong emphasis on excellent customer service, you will also ensure compliance with FCA regulations and provide bespoke insurance solutions to meet each client’s unique needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the renewal process, ensuring all renewals are invited on time and in compliance with FCA guidelines.
- Build and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with clients, introducers, and insurers.
- Identify and capitalise on opportunities for cross-selling and upselling during renewals and mid-term adjustments (MTAs).
- Provide exceptional service by understanding client demands and needs, tailoring insurance solutions accordingly.
- Act as a trusted advisor, offering guidance on claims and ensuring a seamless client experience.
- Supervise or carry out accurate data capture for renewals and enquiries.
- Prepare detailed market presentations and execute broking exercises as instructed.
- Maintain accurate and detailed client records using Acturis and other IT systems.
- Adhere to FCA rules, GDPR, IDD, and company policies, ensuring fair treatment of clients.
- Consistently uphold high standards of integrity, professionalism, and diligence, ensuring all actions align with proper market conduct.
- Regularly report to senior management on performance metrics and activities.
- Commit to ongoing learning and development through CPD programmes, ensuring professional standards are upheld.
Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage with clients and stakeholders (required).
- Strong organisational and time management skills, capable of prioritising workloads and meeting deadlines (required).
- A proactive mindset with a demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and deliver results (required).
- Minimum 1 year in a sales, account management, or insurance broking role (required).
- Fluent English speaker (required); additional language skills are advantageous.
- Right to work in the UK (required).
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products and current market conditions (preferred).
- Proficient in Acturis or similar CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (preferred).
- Familiarity with FCA regulations, GDPR, and IDD standards (preferred).
