Job Title: Cleaning Operative

Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD

Department: Estates

Reporting to: Cleaning Supervisor

Salary: Business Support, Scale 4, Point 18, £14,006 per annum (actual salary)

Annual Leave: 30 days per annum plus bank holidays (pro rata)

Contractual hours: 22 hours per week

Basis: Part time, Permanent

Pension: NEST Pension


Join Our Team

Join our dedicated cleaning team at Middlesbrough College, where we take pride in providing a clean and safe environment for all of our students, staff, and visitors. We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Cleaning Operative to help us maintain the highest standards of cleanliness across a variety of college buildings. As a Cleaning Operative your duties will include general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitising corridors, toilets, and communal areas.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Clean areas and surfaces to set specifications in a timely manner.
  • Service toilet areas including replenishing supplies.
  • Clear and remove rubbish and other items from areas as detailed by the site specification and ensure the security of all areas at completion of duties.
  • Maintain stocks of cleaning materials, order from suppliers where required, control the usage of materials ensuring the cleaning cupboard is always kept tidy.
  • Report any problems on site to the supervisor so they may be rectified immediately.

What We’re Looking For:

We seek candidates who:

  • Hold a Risk Assessment Qualification – Desirable.
  • Hold a COSHH Qualification – Desirable.
