The Role
As a Classroom Assistant, your day-to-day work will go far beyond academic support. You’ll build trusted relationships, promote self-esteem, and help young people regulate their emotions and behaviour. Working alongside experienced teaching staff, you’ll provide both individual and small-group support—making a real difference in the lives of children who need a little extra encouragement.
Key responsibilities:
- Support children’s academic, social, and emotional development
- Assist in the delivery of engaging lessons and activities
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Provide one-to-one and small group support
- Create a calm, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment
Who We’re Looking For
This role is ideal for someone from a youth work, mentoring, coaching, or pastoral support background who is ready to step into a classroom setting.
You’ll bring:
- Experience working with children or young people in any setting
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
- A calm, consistent, and proactive approach to support
- A team-player attitude and willingness to learn on the job
- A TA qualification or related training (desirable, but not essential)

Details
- Start date: Immediate or September start available
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
- Contract: Long-term temporary (potential for permanent)

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
