We’re looking for calm, reliable and compassionate people to join a specialist school supporting pupils with additional and complex needs. If you’ve been out of work to care for a child with SEND, or have had to turn down roles that didn’t understand your situation, this could be the right next step.
The role You’ll support pupils 1:1 or in small groups, helping with emotional regulation, communication and engagement. You’ll build trust over time, using patience, predictability and care to help children feel safe and ready to learn. Your day-to-day might include:
- Supporting pupils with autism, learning difficulties or sensory needs
- Helping children transition calmly between tasks and spaces
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and a wider team of specialists
- Using strategies that may be useful at home too
The ideal person We welcome applications from parents and carers who:
- Have supported a child with SEND in any setting (formal or informal)
- Need flexibility
- Feel ready to re-enter the workforce but worry about finding the right work/life balance
- Want meaningful and rewarding work in a supportive team
Lived experience can be just as valuable as formal qualifications. We welcome people who bring empathy, resilience and a strong understanding of what it means to support a child with SEND.
The school This is a warm, inclusive special school where staff work together and families are understood. Your lived experience will be an asset, not a barrier -you’ll be welcomed as someone who truly gets it.
Hours Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm (term time only). Part-time and flexible working arrangements are available—we’ll work with you to find a pattern that fits.
