Job Summary
We are a busy classic car service, maintenance and upgrades workshop based in Bicester. We primararly work on post war cars upto and including cars from the early 2000's. We currently have 4 full time mechanics and one apprentice and are looking to expand the workshop team to help meet the growing demand for high quality work that the business is attracting.
We are looking for a skilled automotive mechanic, with an keen eye for detail. Although commercial experience in the classic car market is not necessaraly required a sound knowledge of older vehicles is essential. Especially in the areas of fuel delivery, ignition and auto electrics which form a significant proportion of the work we do. Knowledge of and a passion for classic cars is also important.
This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicle across the last 60 years of automotive history, so you will need to be able to adapt your skills to suit the vehicle you will be working on.
You will work with a variety of workshop tools and equipment, and you will need a comprehensive imperial and metric tool kit.
Duties
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and autoelectrical issues in vehicles
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake replacements, and tyre replacement.
- Assemble and disassemble vehicle components as necessary for repairs.
- Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively while adhering to safety protocols.
- Carry out equipment repair and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on each vehicle.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Automotive Mechanic is essential.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the job duties.
- Strong communication skills to effectively work with management
- A valid driver's licence is essential for this position.
- Ability to work as part of a team and help keep the workshop organised and tidy.
