We are seeking a reliable and experienced Skilled Civils Operative to join our specialist construction team delivering civils works in support of garage and workshop equipment installations. This role involves cutting and modifying existing concrete slabs, excavation, ducting, formwork, and concrete works to precise standards.
The successful candidate will work across varied projects, contributing to high-quality pit formations, duct runs, floor recesses, and structural bases. You’ll be expected to work safely, follow instructions, and contribute to delivering jobs on time and to spec.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out floor cutting, breaking and removal of existing slabs
- Operate mini excavators, dumpers, and breakers safely and competently
- Install ducting, drainage, and cable trench infrastructure
- Build shuttering/formwork and assist with minor steelwork where required
- Perform concrete placement and finishing to high standards
- Read and interpret basic setting out and construction drawings
- Maintain a safe, clean working area and follow RAMS and site protocols
- Support the team to complete equipment-related groundwork (e.g. lifts, rolling roads)
- From time to time, you may be asked to assist with tasks outside of your job description.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and managers on progress or issues
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience in groundworks and civils operations, ideally in commercial/industrial environments
- Strong skills in concreting, duct installation, and formwork
- Confident using power tools, breakers, and compact plant machinery
- Ability to follow technical drawings and levels
- A positive, team-oriented attitude with good timekeeping
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid CSCS card (Blue Skilled Worker preferred)
- NPORS or CPCS for plant (excavator/dumper) highly desirable
- Street Works, First Aid, or confined space tickets beneficial
- Full UK driving licence
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
Pay & Benefits:
- PAYE Salary Range: £39,478 – £51,324 (based on 40–50 hour working weeks)
