About the Role:
KASE Care is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Female Children’s Support Worker to join our team in the Gravesend area. This role involves providing high-quality care and support to children aged 0-18 with various conditions, including mild autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, mental health challenges, complex medical needs, and child protection plans. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting children and young people in a variety of settings, promoting their social and emotional development, and enhancing family relationships.
You will also be providing respite care to foster and biological parents, supporting supervised visits, and attending activities designed to integrate children into the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Child Support: Provide tailored support for children and young people (ages 0-18) with a range of conditions, including autism, ADHD, mental health challenges, learning disabilities, and complex medical needs.
- Building Relationships: Assist with building positive relationships between children and their parents (including supervised visits for children under child protection services)
- Activity Planning: Support and attend activities to help integrate children into the community, such as visits to trampoline parks, swimming, soft play, local parks, and community events.
- Respite Care: Provide respite care to foster and biological parents, ensuring the child’s well-being and comfort during their time away from the family home.
- Child Protection: Work closely with the child protection services to ensure the safety and well-being of children under care.
- Emotional Support: Offer emotional support to children and their families, assisting with developmental, social, and behavioural issues as they arise.
- Communication: Maintain clear and open communication with the families, social workers, and other professionals involved in the child's care.
- Supervision: Ensure safe and supportive environments during all activities and visits, while promoting independence and self-esteem in the children you support.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in supporting children with a range of needs, particularly autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and complex medical conditions, is essential.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to speak English fluently.
- Maternal Instincts: A nurturing, caring, and empathetic nature, with a strong understanding of child development.
- Experience with Supervised Visits: Experience in facilitating supervised visits between children and their parents, particularly in cases involving child protection services.
- Flexibility: Ability to be flexible with working hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the needs of the children and their families.
- Safeguarding Knowledge: A solid understanding of safeguarding policies and practices, particularly with children under child protection services.
- DBS Check: Enhanced DBS check is required (or willingness to undergo one).
- Driver: A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred but not essential.
