Purpose of Role:
To support the Lead Childminder in providing a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children in line with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and safeguarding standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and delivering age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development.
- Supervise and engage children in play and learning activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Support children’s emotional, social, and educational development in a nurturing environment.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and maintaining hygiene routines, including nappy changing and toilet training.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organised environment by following health and safety guidelines.
- Observe, record, and report children's progress and any concerns to the Lead Childminder.
- Work in partnership with parents/carers, updating them on children’s daily activities and progress.
- Follow safeguarding policies, reporting any concerns immediately.
- Attend training and development sessions as required.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as required by the Lead Childminder.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum Level 2 qualification in Childcare (or willingness to work towards one).
- Experience working with young children in a childcare setting.
- Understanding of child development and the EYFS framework.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Good communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions effectively.
- Patience, reliability, and a caring nature.
- First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain one).
- DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
Desirable Criteria:
- Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years.
- Previous experience in a childminding or nursery setting.
- Understanding of inclusive practices and working with children with additional needs.
- Food hygiene certification.
- Additional training in safeguarding, behaviour management, or special educational needs (SEN).
Additional Information:
- The successful candidate must adhere to safeguarding policies and undergo regular training.
- This role involves standing for long periods, lifting children, and working indoors and outdoors.

Pay: £11.87-£19.93 per hour
