Overview:
Join our passionate team at George & Joseph Cheesemongers, an award-winning independent cheese shop in Leeds. We’re looking for a confident, food-loving Retail Team Leader to guide our small shop team, deliver exceptional customer experiences, and help grow our retail success.
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on responsibility, takes pride in great service, and loves good cheese.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the shop team to deliver warm, knowledgeable customer service
- Oversee day-to-day shop operations including stock control, till procedures, and shop presentation
- Motivate the team to achieve daily sales targets and maintain high standards
- Ensure smooth opening and closing procedures
- Handle customer queries and issues with professionalism and care
- Train and onboard new team members
- Maintain accurate records and manage card transactions with care
- Support events, tastings, and seasonal promotions where required
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in a retail or hospitality supervisory role
- A natural leader who enjoys developing people and creating a positive working environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Organised, proactive, and able to juggle priorities
- Passion for food, especially cheese and fine produce (cheese knowledge is a bonus—but training will be given)
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and Saturdays
