Middlesbrough Council
£30,060 - £31,586 a year
Middlesbrough, England
Full time

We have an exciting role on offer within our Public Health service as a Caseworker (Criminal Justice Team).

About Us

Are you resilient and proactive? Are you passionate about helping people in the local community making lasting changes? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Caseworker to join our Criminal Justice Team. Working as part of Middlesbrough Council, our multi-disciplinary team provides vital support to those experiencing problems related to substance use. Our mission is to empower our service users by offering comprehensive care, tailored interventions, and a pathway to recovery.

As a Caseworker, you will provide comprehensive support to clients experiencing substance use issues, domestic abuse, and homelessness. You will guide clients through their treatment and recovery journey, implementing psychosocial interventions, developing recovery plans, and facilitating referrals to relevant services. Your work will be helping people achieve recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct screenings and assessments to identify client needs.
  • Develop and implement tailored recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and external agencies to ensure service users receive the care they need.
  • Work proactively and flexibly to engage clients and meet service needs.
  • Ensure adherence to all processes and procedures.
  • Liaise with the clinical team to coordinate appropriate clinical interventions for clients.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive and dynamic work environment.
  • Opportunities for continuous professional development.
  • The chance to make a real impact in the community.

Requirements:

  • Experience in working with vulnerable populations—ideally those with issues related to substance use, domestic abuse, or homelessness.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to a trauma-informed, strength-based approach.

This role also requires a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. You will also need to have business insurance in place prior to starting if you do not already have this. Unfortunately, we will not be able to proceed with any applicants who do not meet this requirement. If you are ready to use your skills and experience to make a real difference, we would love to hear from you!

Please note, this is a fixed term vacancy until 31st March 2026.

If this is you, this may be the opportunity you are looking for!

In return we can offer:

  • Generous leave entitlement with an option to purchase up to 10 additional days annual leave per year.
  • Excellent pension plus top-up options.
  • Staff networks run by our staff for our staff.
  • Flexible working (dependent on job role).
  • Electric car lease scheme.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Employee benefits portal including Wellbeing and Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Staff lottery.
  • Travel and car parking schemes.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Fantastic career progression opportunities and lots more!
