We are a residential care provider based at the seafront, in Clacton-on-Sea. We are searching for an enthusiastic Care Assistant to join our friendly team, for both day or night shift. It is essential that you are fluent in English. The successful candidate will be someone who can act as a good role model within our organisation, and meet the following requirements:
- Fluent English (both written and spoken)
- Previous care experience, preferably within residential care
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to record information using a computer
- Effective team player
- Good attention to detail
- Patient and tolerant
- NVQ qualification (preferably)
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to multi-task
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work to deadlines and take direction

Some of the duties for the Care Assistant role include to:
· Assist service users with all aspects of their personal care whilst maintaining their privacy and dignity at all times.
· To assist service users in using their personal and mobility aids whilst ensuring all aids are well maintained.
· Assist social activities by interacting with service users and helping them to continue with their hobbies and activities within the home.
· To escort service users to and from the home when necessary.
· To understand, contribute to and be familiar with the service users’ person- centred care plans and report any changes to the shift leader.
· To complete accurate and effective written and computerised records as instructed in line with Brooklyn House policies and procedures.
· To act and understand the role of a key worker to nominated service users.
· Assist service users during mealtimes in accordance with their care plan and serve meals and drinks as required.
· To answer the nurse call system promptly and give assistance as required
· To report any incidents, occurrences or complaints to the shift leader and record appropriately.
· To attend and participate in staff and service users’ meetings as required.
· To attend mandatory training and other training identified to enable you to fulfill your role is compulsory; this may involve travel to other venues.
· To attend supervision and appraisal meetings as required.
· Any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the post and its grading as requested by the senior care assistant or manager.

Duties
- Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation
- Support individuals in maintaining their independence while ensuring safety and comfort
- Implement and follow care plans tailored to each individual's needs
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any changes in the resident's condition
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care
- Drive to various locations as required for home care visits (a valid driving licence is preferred)
- Utilise IT systems for documentation and communication purposes
Experience
- Previous experience in a care home or home care setting is advantageous but not essential
- Familiarity with care plans and the ability to follow them accurately
- Proficiency in English for effective communication with residents and colleagues
- Strong IT skills to manage documentation and utilise digital tools effectively
- Excellent communication skills, demonstrating empathy and patience when interacting with residents
