JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Canine Welfare
Starting Salary: £28,000
Additional Benefits: Biannual performance-based bonus scheme. Team days out and BBQ's throughout the year.
Hours: 7.30 am - 5 pm.
Rota provided before each month. Additional hours: Night walks paid at £25 between 7.30 - 8.30pm, maximum of once a week in the off-peak season and twice a week during peak season.
Contract: Full time, permanent
Location: Talog, Carmarthenshire.
THE ROLE
A multi-faceted role focusing on providing the highest levels of care and welfare to all types of dogs at The Dog House, the UK's leading activity holiday and training facility.
Duties:
- Follow strict guidelines to maintain the cleanliness of our guests' areas to the highest standards including cleaning and disinfecting animal accommodation, food preparation areas, laundry and outside areas.
- Prepare food, medication and water for each of our guests.
- Carry out daily health checks and report any physical changes.
- Handling, exercising, and walking dogs (with a high level of handling).
- Photo-taking for our Instagram.
- Assisting with grooming, bathing and drying.
- Assisting with Training.
- Ad-Hoc duties as required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
You will be reliable, upbeat and in good shape with an eye for detail. You will support the welfare team by ensuring all areas are thoroughly clean and keeping on top of laundry and washing up.
You take responsibility for your time, ensuring you complete given tasks promptly. You will be proactive, comfortable handling a range of dogs, and have good common sense.
You will be excited to improve your dog handling skills to support the training team and keep on track the training and behaviour of all dogs in our care.
SKILLS (Great to have):
- Experience with dog welfare, and medication.
- Experience/understanding of dog nutrition.
- Experience with dog training and/or behaviourist.
- Experience with dog grooming.
- Strong photo & video-taking skills.
