Starfish & Coffee is a multi-award winning neighbourhood cafe specialising in modern brunch dishes near Queens Park, just a 10-15 minute walk from Brighton Pavilion, and we're looking for a new part-time weekend Kitchen Assistant to join the team.

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen during our busiest days, providing exceptional kitchen porter duties, assisting in food preparation and maintaining a clean and organised environment. Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes & cooking equipment and sanitising surfaces.
- Support the kitchen team with minor food preparation duties as required, ensuring adherence to food safety standards.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
- Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant or café setting is preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of food safety practices is highly desirable.
- Basic culinary skills and an understanding of meal preparation techniques are advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate well with colleagues and customers.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness.
- A willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment is essential.
Hours: 9.30am-3.30pm Saturdays & Sundays
Rate: Age 18-20 £10ph + tips. Age 21+ £12.21ph + tips.
Tips & Service Charge: Between £2.50-£3.50 per hour worked, depending on time of year, plus daily cash tips on top.
You'll also get statutory holiday pay and pension scheme entitlement if eligible.
