We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our friendly team.

The Role

The Bookkeeper will play a key role in managing the company’s financial processes. Reporting directly to the company director, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring the accuracy of the financial information that goes into the company's financial statements and its compliance with the relevant accounting standards and legislation to provide strategic financial insights to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

· Document and record day-to-day financial transactions.

· Process accounts payable and receivable efficiently.

· Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and supplier statements.

· Maintain the purchase ledger and sales ledger.

· Process payroll, including PAYE, pensions, and other deductions.

· Ensure VAT returns are accurate and submitted on time.

· Assist with tax payments and prepare returns.

· Handle supplier payments and liaise with subcontractors (CIS returns).

· Work with accountants as needed to ensure compliance.

Skills and Experience Required

· Good working knowledge of Quick books and Microsoft Excel.

· Proficiency in accounting software (Sage 50 and Sage 50 Payroll).

· Strong understanding of financial processes and accounting principles.

· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.

· Strong organisational and time-management skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
