a) Carrying out duties at all times in a manner which has appropriate regard to the health, safety and welfare of both themselves and others and reports any equipment that is, or is thought to be, not in good working order.
b) To maintain high standards of personal and food hygiene.
c) Being conversant with and following key Home policies, e.g. Health and Safety, Risk assessments in the Kitchen, COSHH etc.
d) Participating in ongoing staff training, e.g. Food Hygiene, Fire Safety, Moving and Handling etc.
a) Prepares salads, sandwiches and other uncooked dishes to specified standards, for Residents, visitors and staff.
b) Cleans and prepares vegetables for cooking.
c) Prepares simple dishes, or mixed ingredients (e.g. batters, sauces etc) after appropriate training and instruction.
d) Assists the Head Chef as directed in the preparation and cooking of meals.
e) Plates up meals according to instructions and delivers (or arranges delivery) to e.g. Dining Room, Resident lounge, Resident room etc.
f) Collects (or arranges collection of) plates, uneaten food, cutlery, crockery etc from Dining Room, Resident’s Lounge, Resident’s room etc. Records and reports examples of meals not eaten.
g) Maintains and re-stocks beverage machines, where available, reporting any problems or malfunctions to the appropriate person.
h) Assists in the delivery of menus, food service notes etc to Residents, visitors etc
i) Prepares notes on all food items prepared and delivered for which a separate charge is to be made.
j) Ensures that dining areas and beverage points are kept clean and tidy at all times, and that flowers are replenished, (where available) salt/pepper/sugar pots are maintained etc.
k) Washes dishes, cutlery, crockery etc to required standards.
l) Keeps all kitchen areas clean and tidy.
m) Undertakes routine and systematic cleaning of all kitchen and related food service equipment, furniture, cupboards, fridges, floors, cookers etc according to schedules determined by the Head Chef.
n) Assists in the cleaning and maintenance of other areas of the Home as directed and as required.
o) In emergencies to assist Care staff with there duties
p) To ensure all Training is kept up to date and followed
