Do you have excellent communication and organisational skills? Are you a team worker with the ability to use your own initiative? If the answer is yes, then we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join our encouraging and welcoming team of dedicated military and civilian healthcare professionals and administrative staff working within the Regional Occupational Health Team (ROHT), Lisburn.

The vacant post is a part-time position, working 25 hours per week.

Strategic Command Transformation

Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. Throughout, the Command’s transformation programme is committed to following the MOD’s framework on managing and supporting people through the change process and places an emphasis on early and open consultation and engagement with the Command’s personnel and Trade Unions.

Job description

To support ROHT clinical staff in the care of Service Personnel (SP) receiving specialist Occupational Health (OH) interventions. The role will include case managing SP who are transitioning from service to civilian life, liaising with recovery staff who support these SP, leading or being the link for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and equipment care. Additional skills and training can be acquired in role that will expand the HCA's scope of practice under supervision.

Person specification

Main details of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Transitional support for SP moving to civilian life following employment decision.
  • Advice to Personnel Recovery Officers (PRO) as required and at monthly case reviews.
  • Attend monthly case reviews with OHC to review caseload.
  • Attend triage meetings to receive allocated SP onto caseload.
  • Lead (or link, depending on ROHT laydown) for IPC in department. Undertake IPC audits. Attend Regional IPC updates, share information regarding the same.
  • Lead (or link, depending on ROHT laydown) for equipment care in the department. Ensuring equipment is safe.

Qualifications

Literacy and numeracy: GSCE or equivalent in English and Maths
NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience
