About Us:
We’re excited to announce the opening of our brand-new, independent coffee shop in Wolverhampton. Our vision is simple: create a warm, welcoming space where everything is done with care — from the coffee we serve to the pastries we bake fresh every single day.
We're looking for a skilled Baker who is passionate about handcrafted pastries and wants to be part of building something special from the ground up. It’s a great fit for someone who loves to get creative, try new things, and bring fresh ideas to the table—definitely not the kind of role for someone who wants to be told what to do every step of the way.
Job Overview:
As our in-house Baker, you'll be responsible for preparing a daily menu of fresh pastries — made entirely from scratch — in our open-concept kitchen. This is a hands-on role perfect for someone who thrives in a creative environment and takes pride in their craft.
You’ll have the opportunity to shape our pastry offerings from day one and work closely with the owner and barista team to deliver an unforgettable experience to our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare a daily selection of pastries, including but not limited to: croissants, muffins, scones, cookies, cakes, tarts, and seasonal specialties.
- Create and test new recipes in collaboration with the owner
- Ensure all baked goods are made from scratch, fresh daily, and meet consistent quality standards
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment
- Manage ingredient inventory and place orders as needed
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations
- Work early morning shifts to ensure pastries are ready before opening
- Occasionally assist in front-of-house support during busy hours
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years professional baking experience in a commercial kitchen or bakery
- Strong knowledge of traditional and modern baking techniques
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Comfortable with early start times (typically 4–5 AM)
- Creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for baking from scratch
- Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain before start date)
- A collaborative, can-do attitude
What We Offer:
- Competitive hourly wage (based on experience)
- Opportunity to influence our menu and pastry program
- Creative freedom in a supportive, low-ego environment
- Employee discounts on food and drinks
- A role that grows as our shop grows

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Wolverhampton WV1 1LD: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
