We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and proactive Autism Support Worker / Personal Assistant to support a 20-year-old autistic young man with developing life skills, independence, and engagement in meaningful activities. He is highly capable but experiences challenges with communication, social interaction, and behavior regulation. The ideal candidate will provide structured support, encourage independence, and help reduce prompt dependency.
We are looking for two days a week and once a month on a Saturday
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support to children with autism, fostering their social and communication skills.
- Implement tailored educational strategies to enhance learning and development.
- Collaborate with parents and educators to create a supportive environment.
- Monitor and document progress, adjusting approaches as necessary.
- Engage in activities that promote emotional and behavioral growth, ensuring a safe and nurturing atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to support individuals with autism
- Strong skills to facilitate learning and development
- Effective communication skills to engage with young autistic adults and their families
- Compassionate and patient demeanor to foster a supportive environment
- Confidence in handling challenging behaviors with a proactive and calm approach.
- Knowledge of Makaton, PECs, or other communication strategies (preferred but not required).
