About the team
Our Construction Dispute Resolution team are well-versed in all forms of adversarial proceedings, both in the UK and globally. In the UK, our team spends much of its time representing clients in the High Court and, in recent years, it has done so in some of the most material disputes to arise in the jurisdiction.
We are a sector-focused firm and our lawyers are specialists in a number of fields. We know that many disputes are not just about the law and our industry knowledge is crucial. Our team focuses on:

Examples of recent projects
- Acting for the joint venture contractors in the pursuit of a significant delay and disruption claim and the defence of a counterclaim for defective works, arising out of the design and construction of an additional runway at a major UK international airport.
- Representing the design teams in connection with material claims, concerning the defects in, and the delayed release of, design information issued in connection with the construction of Wembley Stadium and the expansion of Anfield Stadium.
- Acting for a Turkish contractor in an ICC arbitration arising from the construction of a road project in Oman under bespoke Conditions of Contract. Seat of arbitration Geneva and subject to Omani law.
- Acting for Triathlon Homes LLP in its successful defence of an Appeal application in obtaining a Remediation Contribution Order in relation to the costs of remediating residential blocks forming part of the Olympic 2012 Athletes Village. This is a landmark decision under the new provisions of the Building Safety Act.
- Advising National Highways on the A303 Road Project and the termination of the NEC3 Contract following the withdrawal of Government funding.
- Acting for a national UK MEP contractor in relation to the construction of a state-of-the-art entertainment and events arena.
- Advising a Major UK contractor in relation to defects arising out of the design and installation of modular bathroom units relating to a 440 unit development.
- Advising a UK airport relating to the refurbishment of its existing passenger facility and the introduction of new generation security systems.
- Acting for the UK arm of a global engineering business in an arbitration associated with allegations of defective work at a UK fuel storage facility.
- Advising funders, developers, contractors and student accommodation providers on their liability in relation to the Building Safety Act and the strategy for recovery from third parties across a portfolio of properties.
- Representing the project developer, a ‘Big-6’ UK utility, in connection with material defects emerging - following take-over - in an offshore windfarm located in UK waters.
About the role
To advise property developers, contractors, funders, purchasers, tenants, public sector clients and major corporates on high value, high profile construction & engineering disputes across all sectors.
About you
- Experience in any of the above areas.
- A proven ability to give pragmatic, commercial advice
- Building Safety experience is desirable
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Team player who is willing to get involved in new areas of work
- Comfortable dealing with clients, under appropriate levels of supervision
- Sound drafting, negotiation and problem solving skills
- Calm under pressure
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
