Overview
Make a Difference UK are looking for a motivated, confident Assistant Counselling Service Lead to join our highly skilled clinical team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support a wide range of clients across the UK through telephone or video consultations. We are keen to find a candidate who is truly passionate about making a difference and achieving the best clinical outcomes, demonstrating compassionate, professional leadership and upholding high ethical standards in the process.
This role is a hybrid role of 37.5 hours per week requiring one to two days a month in our Derbyshire headquarters. You can work from home or anywhere in the UK on a flexible schedule between 8am to 10pm. Reporting to the Head of Counselling, you will be responsible for managing a minimum caseload of 10 clients and supporting with the management of our team of associate counsellors. This will include deputising for the Head of Counselling in their absence for key responsibilities such as risk management and clinical queries. As someone who takes initiative, you will be able to contribute effectively to team meetings whilst also be comfortable and motivated to work independently.
As we look to continuously improve our service delivery, the Assistant Counselling Service Lead will have a role in shaping our roadmap and working with other teams to inform the development lifecycle and help maintain service guidelines and documentation. They will work with the Head of Counselling to proactively action and improve our procedures and service delivery for clients and our counsellors.
About You
Required
- Qualified Adult Counsellor (or Adult and CYP Counsellor) who is an accredited member of the BACP or equivalent professional body.
- Experience of working within a counselling agency, ideally an EAP or similar environment.
- Good clinical judgement and aware of regulatory requirements with confidentiality.
- Ability to work flexibly with a minimum caseload of 10 clients.
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to delivery effective telephone or video sessions.
- Empathetic listener who is able to work towards positive clinical outcomes with a variety of clients.
- Good computer skills, including being able to use a mix of traditional applications like Microsoft Office and develop mastery of our bespoke web applications.
Desirable
- Experience working in an education setting
- Demonstrable experience of clinical responsibility in a professional setting
- Relevant specialisms for both Adult and CYP counselling
- Enhanced DBS disclosure
- Previous experience in a role as Safeguarding Lead or equivalent
