Description
We are seeking an Agricultural Trainer to support the delivery of our apprenticeship programmes. This role will focus on L2 General Farm Worker and some L3 Livestock Unit Technician learners. A home-based position covering maternity leave for 12mths. Teaching primarily in Devon through Microsoft Teams or on farms/local venues to where the apprentices work.

Location: Home/field-based (Devon/Cornwall area)
Contract: 12-month maternity cover (with potential for extension or more hours)
Hours: 2 days per week (with flexibility to increase)
Salary: £28,600 (Basic salary of £25,000 FTE salary + car allowance of £3,600 pa, paid pro rata) + Benefits, mileage allowance, laptop and phone.

Job Purpose
This position is a hybrid role, you will be offered an FTE of 0.4 (two days per week).
We have apprentices ranging from Level 2 to Level 4. We will work with you to ensure you are teaching the level you are most comfortable with. The role will expect you to support apprentices through to the successful completion of their apprenticeship programme from initial advice and guidance to End Point Assessment. Deliver the knowledge, skills, and behaviours through a blended learning approach. This role requires you to teach both in the classroom, outside the classroom on farms or through teams. You will be accountable for the whole of the apprenticeship journey with responsibility for maintaining internal quality assurance processes for your subject area working closely with other trainers in this sector.
You will join a forward-thinking team delivering outstanding apprenticeships meeting the needs of the apprentices, employers, and stakeholders. Although a home-based role, working independently and managing your hours to meet the needs of all parties including and operational needs of STS the role does requires you to travel with occasional overnight stays as required.
Key role responsibilities and accountabilities
- To train, coach, support and deliver the apprenticeship programme within their subject specialism and regional area.
- Delivering high quality training.
- Support apprentices with all aspects of the apprenticeship delivery including additional learner support where applicable working with our ALS/FS specialist.
- Provide information and guidance to the learner and employer about the progress of the apprentice.
- To maintain high standards, adhering to service and awarding body quality assurance procedures.
- Work with the subject specialist team to ensure the standardisation of assessment and practices.
- Facilitate and deliver through a range of different methods to create an engaging learning programme. To plan, always resource and deliver high quality training.
- Programming of training and support in liaison with the programme manager and taking account of the employers’ individual needs.
- On-board new apprentices to the correct programme following the Skern Training and Skills process.
- Support apprentices in their workplace in preparing for their end point assessment, being accountable for the progress and overall achievement of the apprentice.
- To meet internally set deadlines for quality assurance checks.
- To carry out initial assessment with learners using a range of assessment methods.
- To keep and maintain accurate records of training and assessment in accordance with service and awarding body requirements.
- To maintain and update own knowledge, skills and occupational competence as required.
- To support the promotion and growth of apprenticeships throughout work-based learning and development.
- To have a caseload of approx. 15 apprentices for the 0.4 FTE contract
- Ensure clear understanding of the standard and the impact on the learner, being the expert and providing insight to the business.
- Manage own time and resources effectively to meet the needs of STS, the employers and apprentices needs.
Essential
- Knowledge & experience of the Land based Sector
- A strong commitment to your own continuous professional development
- Efficient time management & organisational skills
- GCSEs English and Maths (C or above or functional skills equivalent)
- Competent in the use of ICT to include word, excel and Microsoft teams.
- Current clean, full, UK driving license and own vehicle appropriate for business use. Ability to drive a minibus is desirable although not essential.
- Knowledge and experience delivering apprenticeships or other forms of agricultural training
- Experience working with remotely teams using TEAMS with experience of virtual learning and e-portfolios
- Knowledge of End Point Assessment activities and methodologies
- Knowledge of relevant Apprenticeship Standards
- Level 3 Safeguarding qualification or be prepared to work towards achieving this
- First Aid qualification
- Internal quality assurance qualification (V1, D34 or equivalent)
- A recognised Teacher / training qualification (AET, PTLLS or equivalent) or Assessor qualification (A1, TAQA, CAVA, D32, D33 or equivalent)
- Relevant industry (professional) related qualifications and certificates
