Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD

Department: Adult & Community Learning

Reporting to: Curriculum Team Leader

Salary: Tutor/Trainer Scale, Points 3- 11, £25,105.46 - £34,235.23 per annum

Additional Sector based scale of up to £37,657.82 p.a. for exceptional sector roles (determined by the college)

Basis: Full time/ Permanent

Pension: NEST Pension Scheme

We’re looking for a passionate Electrical Trainer to deliver engaging, hands-on and theory-based training. Your role will involve not only teaching technical Electrical skills but also embedding essential employability, health and safety, and professional behaviours. You will support adult learners through flexible, roll-on, roll-off programmes, helping them build skills and confidence to succeed in employment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As an Electrical Trainer, you will:

  • Plan and deliver skills-based training aligned with standards set by external, industry-led, and awarding bodies.
  • Train, assess, and support learners on competence-based programmes, helping them develop practical skills and achieve learning objectives.
  • Assist learners in creating and progressing through individual learning plans, ensuring alignment with externally set standards.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment, taking appropriate precautions to ensure student safety within the classroom and College premises.
  • Manage and maintain learning resources and equipment, reporting any faults or repair needs to relevant staff.
  • Support student application and enrolment processes, working collaboratively with teaching and administrative teams.
  • Provide guidance and support to students throughout their learning journey.

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Are qualified Electricians and hold current and relevant experience.
  • Have Electrical Engineering experience.
  • Have strong communication skills across diverse audiences.
  • Achieved Grade C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent).
  • Are committed to completing mandatory training related to the role.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Teaching and/or assessing experience.
  • Health and Safety in Electrical qualification / CSCS card.
  • Assessor and Verifier Awards
  • Teaching or Training Qualification
