We are looking for an outstanding individual who is enthusiastic, dynamic and inspirational to join our Inclusion team as an Advanced Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will take the lead on the Social Communication interventions such as Lego Therapy, ELSA and the use of Communication Cartoons, so experience of working in this area of SEND is required. Collaboration and communication within the Inclusion and SEND team is essential as the role supports our most vulnerable to thrive in all aspects of their education.
As an Advanced Teaching Assistant you will be required to work closely with members of our Inclusion team and will have the energy and creativity to develop and inspire students learning, life skills and personalised outcomes.
A key focus will be to support student provision and increase their ability to access all areas of the curriculum and school life. As part of the role you will work on providing specific interventions that support our students’ communication and interaction skills, responding to provisions linked to EHCPs and SEND Support plans.
The successful candidates will work to support students in all necessary provisions. A key focus will be to increase students' ability to access all areas of the curriculum. Examples of the work the successful candidates will be expected to deliver are to:
- Take responsibility for a caseload of students inside and outside of the classroom during structured or unstructured time.
- Assess the needs of students and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support students’ educational progress and attainment and prepare them for adulthood.
- Deliver intervention programs to individuals and small groups, preparing relevant and appropriate learning experiences in conjunction with the department staff. A key focus of this work will be around emotional literacy and social skills.
- Track and monitor student life skill targets and/or EHCP outcomes, discussing progress with parents and agreeing new targets/EHCP outcomes at Interim Reviews.
The successful candidate must have Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths or equivalent, as well as Level 3 qualification relating to working with children and young people and possess strong IT skills, be a good communicator, approachable and have a positive attitude towards staff and students.
