Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Hospital at Night Service

NHS Scotland
£50,861 - £59,159 a year
Fife, Scotland
Part-time 0.62 WTE Secondment until 31/01/26

Are you an experienced and compassionate nurse looking to make a significant impact in an acute care setting? NHS Fife is seeking an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our established Hospital at Night team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, clinically effective care. As a senior member of the team, you will leverage your advanced clinical skills and knowledge to provide exceptional care across a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

About the Role:
As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the Hospital at Night Service, you will play a key role in providing clinical leadership, making advanced clinical decisions, and delivering evidence-based care during the night shift. The role demands an individual with extensive experience in an acute healthcare environment, demonstrated by post-registration study or equivalent experience in advanced clinical decision-making.

Key Requirements:
You must be a registered nurse with a strong understanding of the challenges and demands of working in an acute care setting. You should have evidence of post-registration study or equivalent experience, including certified clinical examination, assessment, and diagnostic skills at Masters Level 11.

A commitment to professional development, including the ability to undertake a structured academic and in-house training program, is essential for this role.
This position offers a unique opportunity for those who are passionate about advancing their nursing career. Following successful completion of a comprehensive training program, you will have the opportunity to develop into an Advanced Nurse Practitioner role.

Training and Pay:
In line with national pay and banding arrangements for trainees, this post is also open to individuals who can demonstrate the potential to grow into the Advanced Nurse Practitioner role. Trainees will be remunerated at a percentage of the pay band maximum for the qualified rate, based on the length of the training period (please refer to the Terms and Conditions for further details).

Fixed Term/Secondment Opportunity –
Existing permanent employees must first discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager. The secondment policy can be found here Hub • Blink (joinblink.com) If you do not have approval for a secondment from your current line manager, you will not be able to progress your application for a fixed term post. External applicants, with continuous NHS Service, must also have in place a secondment agreement, from their existing board to apply for this post.

For further information or to discuss the role in more detail, please contact Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioner Derek Ramsay via email [email protected] or Clinical Nurse Manager Esther Davidson via email [email protected].

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.

To work in the United Kingdom, there is a legal requirement for an individual to demonstrate that they have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is, without exception, granted by the UK Visa and Immigrations Service.

As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through a number of routes including specific types of visa as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.

For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.

We offer flexible working and family-friendly policies and fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
