Job Summary
The Activities Coordinator plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in assisted living and nursing home settings. This position involves planning, organising, and implementing engaging activities tailored to the interests and abilities of seniors, including those with dementia care needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for senior care, ensuring that all activities promote social interaction, physical engagement, and emotional well-being.
Duties
- Develop and implement a comprehensive activities programme that caters to the diverse interests of residents.
- Coordinate daily activities, including arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, and social events.
- Assess residents’ needs and preferences to create personalised activity plans.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities are suitable for residents with varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities.
- Organise special events and outings that encourage community involvement.
- Train and supervise volunteers or junior staff involved in activity planning and execution.
- Foster a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages resident participation.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or senior care is essential.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices and experience working with individuals with dementia is highly desirable.
- Strong caregiving skills with the ability to engage effectively with seniors.
- Excellent communication skills to interact positively with residents, families, and staff members.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Creative mindset with a passion for developing innovative programmes that enhance resident engagement.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £12.21-£13.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 35 per week
