Role Overview
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Accounts & Tax Assistant to join our friendly team of 10 in Liverpool. Reporting to the Accounts & Tax Managers and Partners, you will play a key role in supporting our clients with accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT, and tax returns.
You will also be responsible for preparing Self-Assessment Tax Returns, so previous experience in this area is essential. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of annual accounts for a range of clients
- Preparation of corporation tax computations and returns
- Completion and submission of VAT returns
- Bookkeeping duties using leading accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
- Company secretarial tasks as required
- Preparation of Self-Assessment Tax Returns for individuals and partnerships
- Supporting the Accounts & Tax Managers with ad hoc tasks as required
About You
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an accountancy practice (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage is essential
- Familiarity with CCH software is desirable, but not essential
- Able to apply basic accounting concepts and demonstrate sound judgement
- A positive team player with good communication skills

Salary: £24,000 – £28,000 (dependent on experience)
Hours: 35 per week (Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm)
Location: Manchester Office (with the option to work from home 1 day per week)
Annual Leave: 20 days plus bank holidays (plus an extra day off for your birthday!)
Lunch Break: 1 hour (Monday to Friday)
