Job Purpose
This role is integral to developing our Academy structure, and the post holders will support with identifying talented youth footballers who have the longer-term potential to play in our First Team. Working within an established team, successful candidates will ensure that all players are monitored, tracked, and reported on to inform recruitment decisions and ongoing player development.

Responsible for
- U9-U16 Foundation & Youth Development
Key relationships
- Internal – Academy Manager, Head of Recruitment, Academy Scouts, Head of Coaching, Lead Analyst, Lead Academy Coaching Staff, Part Time Coaching Staff, Lead S&C Coach, and Head of Operations.
- External – HOR & scouts at other clubs, Grassroots Clubs & Managers, Parents, Regulatory Bodies (EFL, The FA, PFA, Premier League, FIP)
Key responsibilities
- To be part of a team to ensure the Academy recruits the most talented young players as possible.
- Identifying potential new targets to support the club’s recruitment strategy and requirements.
- Compiling and collating reports using a bespoke match & player reporting document to support the talent identification process.
General responsibilities
- To identify talent young players who can represent SCFC
- Attend all club CPD events.
- Participate in all relevant meetings.
- Display high standards of performances as outlined in SCFC Code of Conduct.
- Flexibility to work in this role is essential – evenings and weekend work required.
- Work with the recruitment team to host Grassroots events.
Skills required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to use a variety of communication tools (verbal, written, digital)
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- IT skills to include the ability to use performance analysis software and Microsoft office
Knowledge & qualifications required
- Applicants must have previous experience in a player recruitment role in football and hold the FA Introduction to Talent Identification (Talent ID Level 1)
Experience required
- Working in a similar role in a Category 1 or 2 Academy
- Knowledge of Local U8/16 Age groups in both Grassroots & Academy Football.
- Previous experience of elite sporting environment and understanding how elite footballers are developed.
- Knowledge of the local grassroots football in and around Stockport & Manchester
- IT skills to include the ability to use Performance.
- Airtable software and Microsoft
- Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
