Cambrian Car Care Ltd is one of South Wales largest providers of vehicle breakdown & recovery services. A vacancy is available for a full-time, permanent, 7.5 tonne Vehicle Breakdown Recovery Driver, with immediate start paying above industry average.
The ideal candidate would have a ‘get go’ attitude and flexible outlook to the working day. A keen interest in cars/motor vehicles and a basic mechanical knowledge would be advantageous. For example, being confident to perform a vehicle jump start and changing a wheel. However, this isn’t necessary as ALL training for the job role will be provided in-house and via the institute of vehicle recovery.
Candidates must have at minimum the capability to drive a 7.5T truck, with CPC and Tacho card. For the right candidate there may be scope to put through licences (terms and conditions apply).
As a busy breakdown recovery company, we are called upon 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. With that in mind a 40-hour basic week is offered, over 7 days via a rolling rota with days, evenings, some weekends (never 2 consecutively) and 2 on calls over a 16-week period. The chosen candidate will enjoy working on their own and as a part of the amazing team we already have, must be a team player and enjoy building relationships with fellow work colleagues.
Good customer service skills are essential, while keeping calm under pressure. For many people breaking down is extremely stressful and upsetting, we pride ourselves on being one of the fastest attending operators in the industry, added to this a good work ethic, customer care and communication skills are vital to be that ‘knight in shining armour’.
The chosen candidate must be able to pass a DBS checks and the job offer may be rescinded if unable to do so.
The role is exciting where no two days are the same, it includes a wide variety of scenarios, different locations, faults and fixes. Eventual outcomes will vary, depending on whether a repair is possible at the side of the road, or the vehicle has to be recovered to a place of the customers choosing. With this in mind it can be hard to plan days, but we try and make sure finish times are adhered to, but sometimes this doesn't always happen but overtime is always paid (as much as as little overtime as someone would want, within drivers guidelines).
Full intensive training in line with industry standards is given plus full uniform and PPE is provided.
