Yard Operations Team Leader
Location: Chipping Warden
Join our team as a Yard Operations Team Leader and take charge of our site operations! In this key role, you'll manage day-to-day activities, ensuring smooth and efficient yard operations while strictly adhering to company policies and safety standards.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Monitor the organisation of the yard, flow of vehicles and housekeeping of the site
- Ensure the loading and unloading of transporters and the moving of vehicles between locations are carried out in accordance with health and safety standards
- To ensure all colleagues complete their tasks to the appropriate standard within the required timescale
- Providing excellent customer service and support to both clients and suppliers and deal with any issues or concerns in an effective manner
- Adhere to Health & Safety and company guidelines, and to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
- Assist with providing advice to employees and liaising with other departments
- Manage employees on a daily basis, including managing leave, sickness and holidays, training and mentoring joiners, assisting with employee issues, and ensuring all employees have the correct safety equipment and tools are in good working order
- Support continual recruitment and development of Yard colleagues and new recruits
- Conduct performance reviews and disciplinaries when required
- Identify training needs and request appropriate course/ Forklift courses to your Operations Manager when required
- Complete incident and accident reports
- To ensure all personal protective equipment is available
- Carry out weekly site checks and update site diary
- Support the team to maintain its ISO27001 registration
- Relevant safety meetings
- Daily and monthly safety observations and inspections
Here's what you bring:
- Ability to lead a team and maximise performance
- Full Driving License
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Forklift truck license - rough terrain
- Basic literacy and numeracy
- Mechanical, Metal Recycling or vehicle maintenance qualification (advantageous)
