About the role
Reporting to the Black Yard Supervisor/Stock Controller, you will work in a team supporting the efficient handling and management of steel materials. Responsibilities include:
- unload incoming deliveries of black steel safely using appropriate equipment, ensuring you are authorised and trained to operate
- inspect incoming loads for any signs of damage and report any issues immediately
- verify incoming loads against delivery paperwork to ensure correct items and quantities are received
- organise and maintain yard stock, ensuring correct identification and placement of materials
- conduct regular stock checks and support stock control processes
- complete all relevant paperwork accurately and promptly, ensuring traceability and quality standards are maintained
- maintain a clean, tidy and hazard-free work area
- carry out manual tasks safely and within physical and technical capabilities

About you:
As well as being organised and motivated, we would like someone who:
- has working knowledge on yard process, tools and equipment
- has great attention to detail and accuracy
- has energy, enthusiasm, positive and a can-do attitude
- has the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- preferably has structural steelwork experience
- has a proactive approach to health, safety, environment and quality
We are ideally looking for candidates who are flexible and able to adapt to occasional transitions between day and night shifts, based on business requirements.
