Could you be the trusted adult a young person needs to turn things around at school?
We’re looking for a committed and skilled mentor to lead an exciting new project based primarily at Wallingford School, with additional hours each week running community youth provision in the town. You’ll focus on early intervention with young people at risk of exclusion, truancy, disengagement or escalating behavioural issues, developing a consistent and nurturing mentoring programme and tailoring one-to-one and group support to meet each young person’s needs. This joined-up approach links school-based work with community provision, ensuring young people have access to trusted support wherever they are.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering one-to-one and group mentoring sessions at Wallingford School
- Leading lunchtime drop-in and detached youth work on the school site
- Running a weekly open-access community youth session in Wallingford
- Building trusted, positive relationships with young people
- Working in partnership with school staff, local agencies and community partners
- Monitoring and reporting on outcomes in line with project requirements
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about helping young people fulfil their potential
- Can build rapport and trust quickly with young people from diverse backgrounds
- Has experience delivering mentoring and/or youth work in school or community settings
- Understands the principles of informal education and voluntary engagement
- Is confident working both independently and as part of a team
- Holds safeguarding knowledge and is committed to safe practice
