Role Overview
We are looking for a proactive, organised, and customer-focused Concrete Dispatch Administrator to join our busy head office team in Ellesmere, Shropshire. This role is vital in supporting the day-to-day coordination of ready-mix concrete deliveries, ensuring smooth communication between our batching plants, drivers, and customers. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and take pride in delivering an efficient and professional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and process incoming concrete orders from customers via telephone and email
- Schedule deliveries using dispatch software, balancing customer requirements and fleet efficiency
- Coordinate with plant managers, batching staff, and drivers to allocate jobs effectively
- Monitor delivery status throughout the day, updating schedules as needed and resolving issues
- Provide accurate and timely communication to customers regarding delivery times and changes
- Maintain accurate records of daily orders, haulage allocation, and plant output
- Support drivers with delivery instructions and documentation
- Work closely with sales, transport, and plant teams to maintain service levels and respond to enquiries
- Handle delivery queries and complaints with a professional, problem-solving approach
Person Specification
Essential:
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
- Computer literate
- Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure
- A team player with a proactive and flexible attitude
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience in a customer service, transport, or dispatch-related role
Desirable:
- Previous experience in the ready-mix concrete, aggregates, or construction logistics sector
- Knowledge of dispatch software
- Understanding of commercial vehicle scheduling and driver regulations
- Familiarity with regional geography (Shropshire, Cheshire, Mid/North Wales)
