Reporting to the Resourcing and Talent Manager, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will design, develop and deliver strategic resourcing for Lanes Group in line with the Thames Water contract, ensuring business needs are delivered and the company’s objectives are aligned with all internal policies and procedures. Delivering full 360 recruitment throughout the Waste Network Services contract whilst creating and maintaining a robust talent pool to deliver a consistent succession pipeline. Our network covers all of Greater London and parts of Hertfordshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Surrey, Kent and Essex.

Location: Customer Solutions Centre, Slough Head Office (Slough; Berkshire); Please note this role is in office only.

Job Type: permanent, full-time

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours (start times to be discussed on interview)

Salary: £35,000 to £38,000 per annum, depending upon experience

About the Role:

Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to recruitment problems.


  • Arrange and conduct interviews and candidate assessments centres.
  • Confirming with candidates that they will be attending their interview and rearranging if needed.
  • Posting and amending job adverts which includes altering advert descriptions, reducing / increasing head count, changing managers...
  • Searching job boards for candidates who may not have applied but whose skill set matches our vacancies.
  • View and prepare applicants' eligibility and drivers checks prior to offering.
  • Preparing induction paperwork including the referencing of applicants.
  • Keep recruitment paperwork updated and relevant, including but not limited to application forms, GDPR consent and interview note templates.
  • Maintain regular contact with candidates throughout the pre-employment period to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Managing relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Work with closely with stakeholders on campaigns to attract new applicants.
  • Attend manager meetings to gain an understanding of recruitment needs (when required).
  • Manage, audit and update the recruitment system and trackers in line with applicants and roles to provide detailed data to the Head of People and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Conduct training for managers, support staff and aspiring leaders to guide them to do their own interviews, following our recruitment processes.
  • Conduct exit interviews with leavers to provide insights to address any differences in the market.
  • Keep up to date on changes in UK Employment Law, best practice and employment market trends.
  • Acting as a point of contact for all recruitment issues across the network.
  • Respond to ad hoc recruitment queries on a day-to-day basis.
  • Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
  • Embrace and promote Lanes Group values and culture.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects, tasks or duties as and when required or requested by the Senior Leadership Team.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have effective organisation skills and the ability to multitask and prioritise your workload is important. Having strong interpersonal, relationship building, networking skills and communication is crucial to the role as is having a professional demeanour to engage with all stakeholders. Being proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and strong attention to detail is imperative. Adaptability and flexibility is key.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a talent acquisition specialist, recruitment consultant, staffing specialist or similar is essential
  • Good knowledge of ATS systems is crucial
  • Capable of producing and maintaining weekly and monthly recruitment data reports is a must
  • Experience in the drainage, utilities or retail industry will be beneficial
  • A full UK drivers licence is essential (you may be required to travel to various depots on our network to interview candidates and conduct recruitment training for managers)
