Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting young individuals in acclimating to their accommodation and local community is a crucial aspect of your role. It is imperative to assist them in discovering and utilising local resources effectively.
- Liaising with professionals including police, social workers, personal advisors, health care professionals and youth offending teams.
- Monitoring and supporting the development of everyday living skills are essential.
- Facilitating access to education, training, or employment is a key responsibility. For those who may face challenges in mainstream education, our onsite training hub offers tailored courses to enhance skills and confidence, enabling them to pursue apprenticeships, further education, or employment.
- Guiding young individuals under our care in budgeting, grocery shopping, and managing their allowances is essential. Emphasising healthy habits, offering advice on hygiene, promoting healthy relationships, and educating on potential risks such as drugs and alcohol should be conducted through onsite programs and external speakers.
- Encouraging participation in local activities and events contributes to the overall well-being of the residents.
- Establishing and promoting safe, structured boundaries
- Maintaining meticulous record-keeping and completing necessary paperwork is integral.
- Generating comprehensive weekly and monthly progress reports and collaborating with the line manager on individual progress, incidents, and recording daily logs digitally.
- Engaging with various agencies and attending meetings, including admission and planning sessions as well as Looked After Children (LAC) reviews
- Conducting weekly Health and Safety checks for the accommodation, promptly reporting repairs or damages to uphold a high standard, is a responsibility.
- Effective communication within the team and with relevant parties involved in daily operations is vital. Balancing the ability to work independently and collaboratively is crucial.
- Preserving the confidentiality of young individuals and promptly reporting welfare concerns to the house manager is paramount.
- Attendance at staff meetings, training sessions, and structured supervision sessions is mandatory to stay informed and continually improve our practices.
- Able to handle challenging behaviours effectively
Requirement to be successful:
- Experience of working with children/young people in Ofsted environment (important)
- Level 3 CYPW or above or currently working towards a NVQ level 2 or 3 qualifications in Health and social care (essential)
- Enhanced DBS Check, and on the update service (essential)
