Support Worker

Reports to:

Shift Leader or Registered Manager

Main function of the job:

The Inclusion Group, Dundee and Surrounding area

Pay rate:

£12.60 per hour, £12.00 per hour for sleepover rate

Main Duties (not in any order of priority):

Role Specific Duties

(not in any order of priority):

1. Work in cooperation with members of multi-disciplinary health teams in order to maximise opportunities for Service User therapeutic support.

2. Ensure Service User rights are protected.

3. Encourage a model of service user independence and skill development.

4.Work in accordance with Service User support plans at all times, supporting with activities and care which help people to have fulfilled lives.

5. Provide accurate records of all work completed within agreed time scales.

6. Report Accidents, incidents and concerns to the management team as soon as they arise.

7. Evaluate standards of support competence

8. Be proactive in sourcing and implementing appropriate activities for Service Users

9. Work with Management Team to ensure all client documentation is up to date

10. Maintain a professional relationship with Service Users and families following the Professional Boundaries Policy and SSSC Code of Conduct at all times

11. Attend, and actively participate in Training sessions and Team Meetings

Organisational:

1. Develop effective working relationships with the other employees within The Service.

4. Participate in evaluation of The Service against agreed organisational goals.

8. Comply with the standards required by legislation related to the registration of The Service.

9. Work in a cost-effective manner.

10. Participate in The Service’s quality assurance programme.

11. Assist in the evaluation of the support standards and support service provision.

12. Systematically solve day-to-day problematical issues which arise.

13. Encourage innovative methods for the delivery of support.

14. Encourage health promotion within support strategies.

15. Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.

16 Maintain personal development plans and regularly review at Support & Supervision

17. Promote a positive image for support and employment within The Service.

18. Assist in the development of goals and objectives for the support service.

19. Assist in the assessment of the effectiveness of support implementation and delivery

20. Implement action to meet and maintain support standards.

Human Resources:

1. Cooperate with the induction of all new employees by following shadowing procedure.

2. Support the implementation of The Service’s policies and procedures.

3. Support the effective resolution of team conflicts.

4. Attend and actively participate in regular support and supervision.

5. Promote good and professional workplace culture

6. Support and maintain a culture of performance and excellence.

(Note: In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such duties as may reasonably be required).

To maintain support skills at a current level, and undertake such training and development as may from time-to-time be required to maintain that currency of practice.

To provide support in accordance with current best practice, according to policy and procedures, agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations under the direction of the Manager, and within the financial plans agreed from time-to-time.

Working hours:

Part time 16-25 hours per week ( can include sleepovers and waking nights)

Full time- 35 hours per week (can include sleepovers and waking nights)

(Flexibility between 6am and 10pm, a minimum of 5 out of 7 days is required at all times)

Qualifications required:

Suitability for progression to SVQ Level 3 to be discussed with management after one year.
