About our client:
Our client is a well-established specialist in workwear solutions, providing high-quality uniforms, protective clothing, and branded apparel to businesses across the UK. With a strong presence in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Avon, Bristol, Birmingham, and the wider West Midlands, they are known for their reliable service, expert advice, and commitment to keeping workers safe, comfortable, and compliant.
They are currently looking for an SIA Licensed Firewatch Officer to join their team in Cheltenham, helping to ensure the ongoing safety and security of their site and staff.
Working Hours:
Monday – Friday between the hours of 22:00pm – 06:00am, a total of 40 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Carry out regular patrols of the site to check for potential fire hazards or unsafe conditions
Monitor designated firewatch zones to ensure they remain clear and compliant with safety standards
Ensure fire exits and escape routes are unobstructed and clearly marked
Check that fire alarms, extinguishers, and other safety equipment are in place and visibly intact
Maintain accurate firewatch logs and incident reports throughout the shift
Respond quickly and appropriately to any signs of fire, smoke, or alarms
Support and guide staff or visitors during fire drills or emergency evacuations
Report any safety concerns, maintenance issues, or suspicious activity to management
Work closely with the wider security team to maintain a safe and secure environment
Stay alert and visible, acting as a reassuring presence on site
Requirements:
Valid SIA licence (Security Guarding, Door Supervisor or Close Protection)
Fire Marshal or Fire Warden training (preferred or required depending on the site)
Experience in security or firewatch duties (desirable but not always essential)
Good understanding of basic fire safety procedures and emergency protocols
Ability to stay alert and focused for long periods, especially during quiet hours
Confident in responding to emergencies and following clear procedures
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Physically fit and able to carry out regular patrols
Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and attitude
Able to work independently and as part of a team
