About Us:

Shape the future of UK highways with Balfour Beatty Living Places

At Balfour Beatty Living Places, we design, build, and maintain essential infrastructure that keeps communities moving. We’ve got an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Work Winning Team in Basingstoke – helping us secure and deliver innovative, sustainable highway solutions for our local authority partners.

Why join us?

This isn’t just estimating – it’s your chance to influence the future of our projects from the very start. You’ll be a key player in developing competitive, accurate tenders that win work, shape delivery strategies, and help us create lasting value for our clients and communities.

We’ll provide the platform, support, and tools you need to lead on pricing strategies, mentor estimators, and bring your commercial insight to the forefront.

What you'll be doing

Role Details

  • Leading elements of the bid process, producing competitive and accurate tenders.

  • Developing innovative solutions and value-added proposals that give us the winning edge.

  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and subcontractor input to produce precise costing sheets.

  • Working closely with operational, commercial, procurement, and technical teams to align pricing with delivery strategies.

  • Mentoring and supporting estimators in the team.

  • Using the latest digital tools and processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.

Who we're looking for

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience managing the estimating process within the construction/highways industry.

  • Strong knowledge of pricing and quantification methods.

  • Skilled in MS Office and estimating software.

  • A collaborative leader who thrives under time pressure and enjoys solving problems.

  • Professional membership (RICS/CIOB/ICE/CIBSE) is desirable, but not essential.

What you’ll get in return

  • Competitive salary & benefits package.

  • Company pension scheme.

  • Flexible, hybrid working.

  • Opportunities for professional development & progression.

  • The chance to make a tangible difference to UK infrastructure and communities.

If you’re ready to take the lead on high-impact bids and help us deliver excellence on the UK’s roads, we’d love to hear from you.
