Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Senior CDP/Junior Sous to join our dynamic kitchen team, in a busy seafood/Italian restaurant and take away in the heart of East Lothian. This role is ideal for an individual who is eager to advance their culinary career while contributing to a vibrant restaurant environment.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in meal preparation, food safety, and advancing their skills, while ensuring that our high standards of quality and service are consistently met.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to the restaurant's menu and standards.
- Ensure all food safety regulations and hygiene practices are strictly followed.
- Support the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, including inventory control and stock management.
- Help train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Participate in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for new dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained.
- Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, demonstrating versatility across various kitchen stations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role within a restaurant or culinary setting.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food preparation.
- Excellent culinary skills with a passion for cooking and meal preparation.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- A proactive attitude towards learning new techniques and improving culinary skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the restaurant's operational needs.
