About the Role
As a Senior Associate at InMotion Ventures Studio, you will play a key role in shaping and executing our venture development strategy. Positioned between the Associate and Principal roles, this position combines strategic thinking, hands-on venture building, and technical insight. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify, validate, and scale high-potential ventures aligned with JLR’s Modern Luxury strategy and Horizon 2 & 3 vision. This role is hybrid so employees will work from home, and be expected to travel to our office in central London (Old Street).
Requirements
Strategic Contribution
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the Venture Studio by supporting the development of a balanced and high-impact venture portfolio.
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable venture development plans.
- Support the Principal in setting and tracking OKRs for venture initiatives.
Venture Development & Technical Leadership
- Lead early-stage venture validation, including problem-solution fit, market sizing, and technical feasibility assessments.
- Drive the design and execution of MVPs, working closely with product, design, and engineering teams.
- Apply technical insight to evaluate product architecture, data strategy, and scalability.
- Support the preparation of ventures for Investment Committee reviews.
Operational Execution
- Manage day-to-day venture development activities, ensuring alignment with governance processes and timelines.
- Track venture performance metrics and provide data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
- Contribute to the evolution of the IMV Studio Venturing Playbook by integrating technical best practices and learnings.
Team Collaboration & Mentorship
- Act as a mentor to Associates and Venture Analysts, providing guidance on venture development methodologies and technical considerations.
- Facilitate collaboration across internal and external stakeholders, ensuring cohesive venture execution.
Partnerships & Ecosystem Engagement
- Identify and engage with technical partners, startups, and innovation hubs to support venture development.
- Represent the Studio at relevant industry events, particularly those focused on emerging technologies and innovation.
Market & Technology Insight
- Conduct deep dives into emerging technologies (e.g., AI, SDV, sustainability tech) and assess their relevance to the Studio’s focus areas.
- Monitor competitor activity and innovation trends to inform venture strategy and opportunity identification.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 5+ years of experience in startups, venture building, product development ideally with a technical background.
- Strong understanding of startup methodologies (Lean Startup, Design Thinking, Agile).
- Technical fluency in areas such as software development, data analytics, or systems architecture.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
