Newham College London, now merged with NewVIcSixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across a range of pathways – including 16–18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education.

The Role.
**Fixed term Maternity Cover Until 31st July 2026 **
As a Schools Liaison Officer, you’ll play a key role in promoting Newham College London and NewVIcSixth Form Centre to prospective students, schools, and the wider community. You’ll plan and deliver engaging outreach and recruitment activities — from careers events and school visits to campus-based presentations and open days. You’ll also help shape our school’s liaison strategy, build strong relationships with key contacts, and contribute to marketing campaigns and digital content. This is a dynamic role for someone who’s confident, organised, and passionate about inspiring the next generation of learners.
Key responsibilities;
- Plan, coordinate and deliver outreach events to promote Newham College London and NewVIcSixth Form Centre.
- Represent the College at school visits, careers fairs, interviews, and taster sessions across East London.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, careers advisers, and community partners.
- Deliver engaging presentations and activities to inspire and inform prospective students.
- Support the development and implementation of the Schools Liaison Strategy.
- Lead and supervise the wider outreach team in delivering the Schools Outreach Programme.
- Monitor and analyse event outcomes, track student engagement, and support the journey from enquiry to enrolment.
- Contribute to marketing campaigns and content, including blogs and digital materials.
- Conduct market and competitor research to inform outreach activity and avoid scheduling conflicts.
- Manage promotional materials and ensure timely distribution to schools and partners.
- Support key college events, including open days and external promotions (some evening and weekend work may be required).
Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.
We’re looking for a confident, motivated individual with a passion for student engagement. You should have:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C/4 or above
- A degree or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of schools liaison in a marketing context
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Experience engaging with students, parents, and community stakeholders
- Proven ability to deliver careers-focused activities and IAG
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Excellent written skills, including copywriting and proofreading
- Confident using Google Suite and other digital tools
- Experience delivering events with a professional, welcoming approach
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends
- A commitment to equality, diversity, and high-quality post-16 education
A driving licence, and marketing or teaching qualifications are desirable but not essential.

The salary for this position is inclusive of London weighting. Please note that it is Newham College’s policy to offer all roles at the entry point of the salary scale advertised. However, based on your qualifications and experience, we may offer a higher starting salary within the specified salary range.
