Job Overview
Our company is looking for a salon assistant/trainee beautician (no driving license required, I don't know why Indeed AI generates this requirement automatically). The afternoon and evening shift are already assigned to someone else, and we need someone to cover the morning shift. 6am to 12pm Sundays (6 hour) shift is available. If you can't do six hours in the morning, we would potentially accept a minimum of three hours, or even alternative Sunday mornings (i.e. you don't have to commit to every single Sunday morning if you don't want to).
Mandatory interview slots for either Sunday 7th or 14th September, between 1pm and 8pm, were still available at the time we initially posted this advert.
We prefer candidates with a CRB/DBS check, but can pay this for you if you do not have a recent one and you are successful at interview.
Main duties are:
Setting up and/or taking down signage and/or sample (for patch testing) products.
Acting as "receptionist" taking calls, answering queries and booking patch tests and appointments.
Completing patch tests (especially if the beautician is busy or not in the salon/clinic yet).
Observing and/or assisting during beauty treatments in salon/clinic beauty room (at the moment we are providing facials, waxing and/or makeup treatments. This range is expect to increase over time).
Treating client information in line with the data protection act, scanning and uploading securely to restricted access online records.
Handling cash and credit card transactions.
Offering water to clients waiting for their appointments.
Checking treatment product stocks, researching and making recommendations on ordering.
Keeping the salon clean and tidy and acting to remove/mitigate health or safety risks.
Keeping at home, and bringing in some salon equipment to work each week, in one travel suitcase-trolley only.
Already being part-qualified or trainee beautician is preferred, but not mandatory.

Application question(s):
- Do you have any previous criminal convictions? If so, please state what these are:
- Salon owners have informed us that there is CCTV on and outside premises, but not within toilets or beauty rooms. On interview day, I understand that I don't have to have photos taken of me in beauty room. However, if I allow photos, they would only be used by beauty company on their company websites to advertise services if I was a successful applicant, otherwise the photos of me will be deleted or sent to me with full license transfer (answer by saying I understand and agree, or I don't understand and/or I don't agree).
- What is the date of issue of your last CRB/DBS check? (If you don't already have this, we can pay and apply for this for the successful applicant). We require DBS check from within the last three years.
- Please message or call any further enquiries or requests in advance to our lead beautician's Instagram account: Ayrazaan Xyyaar.
- Please confirm you can bring in the following on the day of the interview: evidence you have right to work in the UK, proof of age and GCSE certificates. Must include English, Maths and Science grades of C or above)
- What percentage of the time do you expect to arrive for your shift start on time, and how much time do you expect to spend in the morning travelling into work?
- Do you wish to either:
1) Do your full weekly shifts all by yourself?
2) Share your shifts with someone else? I.e. on the day, two of you would perform duties together.
3) Alternate, do one Sunday shift every two weeks, with someone else doing the other week?
- It is mandatory requirement to have knowledge of waxing, facials and makeup treatments. As well as having filled out consultation forms for these previously and been treated for all of these previously at a beauty salon. Please confirm you have filled out consultation forms for the above before, and had these treatments before at a salon, and not had any adverse results?
- Next stage is for applicants to attend an initial interview on Sunday 7th September 2025, OR Sunday 14th September, between 1pm and 8pm, which will last an estimate of 2 hours and 15 minutes. During this interview, you will be asked to complete consultation forms for waxing and facial treatments, and have one facial or waxing treatment done on you free of charge. Please confirm if you can commit to this?
- On clinic/salon site, all beauticians are required to wear a beauty tunic top while working on site (bottoms are up to them to decide). However, the company plans to introduce a standard mandatory salon uniform with company logo for all employees at a later date (no need to state clothing size yet, only needed if you are successful at interview). Are you OK with this and willing to commit to a standard uniform at a later date?
- Are you physically able to safely, and willingly, travel into, and back, from work every day with a cabin or medium sized travel-trolley (will have four spinnable wheels), weighing up to 23 kg? You must have prior experience of safely travelling with a travel trolley.
- If we receive lots of applications, we will need some way to decide who the best applicant is. Therefore, while not mandatory, please state what, if any, previous beauty related training, qualifications, or work experience in a salon that you have.
