Park Blue Homes has an exciting opportunity for a WAKING NIGHT Children’s Home Residential Worker to join our company in Midsomer Norton, Bath

This is a great opportunity to join a progressive and trauma informed group of Children’s Homes with a focus on upholding the values and guidelines of a Therapeutic Community. The home is a 4 bed residential home specialising in providing care for young people with learning difficulties and emotional and behavioural difficulties. The home is based in Midsomer Norton. The successful person will need to be able to commute easily to this location.

Waking Nights are paid at £127.50 per night, this is for a 10 hour shift from 21.30-07.30. The waking night contract is for a minimum of two waking nights per week with a maximum of 5 per week.

We also can offer paid sleep ins are £63/night, these are not contracted and can be booked on a ‘bank’ basis.

As a Children’s Waking Night Support Worker, you will be key in helping our young people with EBD and learning difficulties. This can be a challenging role, but the rewards are incomparable to any other job. What are the main duties of a Waking Night Support Worker?

· To be involved with the evening care of our young people, this could include bedtime routines or attending to them through the night if they wake up or need some extra support.

· Ensuring that all children and staff working within the Home are effectively safeguarded during the night, be proactive and able to recognise times when we may need to protect people around us.

· To ensure the Home exceeds all standards as stated in the Children’s Home Regulations 2015 and all other legislation relevant to the therapeutic care of our children.

· To promote relationships as central to the working practice of our Homes. Taking an empathetic and engaging approach to working in partnership with young people and the rest of the team.

· To lead by example and be a role model for the children and young people.

· To promote effective team working. To understand the impacts of vicarious trauma and how this can affect the internal workings of the team. Be active within the companies staff wellbeing programme.

· To be involved in reflective practise and engage in reflective supervision sessions to uphold our therapeutic thinking. This role will include attending reflective sessions within the Home during the day and following any difficult periods.

· To complete paperwork that is required of the waking night and to record tasks done during the shift, this may include handling and administering of medication, updating Life Story Books. (All training given for these tasks).

· To ensure that all finance budgets, control, administration and records comply with Park Blue Ltd's procedures.

· To promote and implement the company’s policies and procedures and ensuring that they are attachment based and trauma informed.

Essential
