Can you build strong relationships rooted in empathy, trust, and lived experience?

Do you want to work in a service focused on connection, equity, and recovery?

If so, you could be the person we are looking for.

About the Service

As part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Partnership in Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW), Second Step delivers community mental health support in collaboration with Alabaré, Missing Link and Nilaari. Together, we’re transforming mental health services by focusing on trauma-informed, person-centred, and culturally inclusive approaches.

The Recovery Navigator role offers either a traditional or peer-based approach, where individuals with lived experience of mental health can provide powerful, hope-inspiring support as part of their role.

About You

As a Recovery Navigator, you’ll work closely with individuals with moderate to severe mental health needs, helping them set and achieve personal recovery goals and connect to meaningful support within their community. You’ll collaborate with health professionals, VCSE partners, and other support networks to provide a seamless experience.

You will:

  • Conduct support conversations using tools like DIALOG+ to create tailored, strengths-based support plans.

  • Deliver person-centred, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed interventions.

  • Use your own lived experience (if applicable) to provide hope and connection.

  • Support individuals with navigation around housing, employment, relationships, and mental wellbeing.

  • Maintain accurate and timely casework, risk assessments, and outcome monitoring.

  • Promote recovery, inclusion, and equity in everything you do.

You’ll need:

  • At least two years’ experience supporting people with mental health or complex needs.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage caseloads, work flexibly, and build effective multi-agency partnerships.

  • Confidence in IT systems and record-keeping.

  • A deep understanding of recovery and trauma-informed practice.

  • If applying as a Peer Recovery Navigator, an ability to draw from your own recovery journey in a safe and supportive way.

We especially welcome applications from those with lived experience and those from Black, Asian and minoritised communities.

Second Step offers an excellent annual leave package, access to our Employee Assistance Programme, a strong culture of support and inclusion, and a full induction programme with ongoing training opportunities.

So…if you think this describes you, what are you waiting for?
