We are seeking a professional and friendly Receptionist Administrator to join our Yeovil Reception Services team. As the first point of contact for patients, visitors and staff you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and efficient front of house environment and providing a first-class reception service.

- Salary: £24,309.57 per annum
- Working Pattern: Full time (37 hours per week)
- Contract: Permanent
The Yeovil reception operates Monday – Friday between the hours of 8.30am and 4.30pm. You will be required to provide annual leave and occasional ad hoc cover for the Taunton Reception Administrator.
What can you expect to be doing?
As our Reception Administrator, you will be the first point of contact for patients, families, visitors, volunteers, and staff. Your role is essential in creating a calm, respectful, and supportive environment while handling a range of administrative tasks and front desk responsibilities efficiently.
You will be supported by a team of reception volunteers who play a vital role in helping to create a warm, friendly, and welcoming environment for everyone visiting or contacting the hospice.
You will also work closely with the Taunton Reception Administrator to align reception practices across our two hospice hubs.
Your day-to-day work will involve
- Greeting and assisting patients and visitors to the Yeovil hospice
- Managing incoming calls, transferring to the appropriate person, and taking messages as needed
- Acting as the first point of contact for queries, triaging and signposting onto the right team
- Signing visitors in and out and distributing visitor passes
- Handling mail, deliveries, and administrative tasks as required
- Ordering stock, assembling information packs, and re-stocking leaflets
- Supporting teams across the hospice with their day-to-day administrative needs
- Managing, training and motivating volunteers
- Organising and allocating tasks to volunteers
- Assisting with coordinating on site activities, events and meetings
- Overseeing the reception shop, cash handling and serving customers at the till
- Replenishing stock in the reception shop and creating merchandising displays
What will you be good at?
To be successful in this role, you will have;
- Previous experience in a reception or in a customer service environment
- Experience of volunteer or people management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure
- Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
The ability to travel cross-county is an essential requirement of this role. There will occasionally be a need to travel to Taunton for training, providing reception cover, attending team meetings, and stock collection.
