Property Services Keyworker - Asylum

Full Time Post - 39 Hours per week.
Salary: £25,715, rising to £27,025 after 12 months and £27,955 after a further 12 months

Main Purpose
To provide high quality housing related support and services to asylum seekers accommodated by the Home Office.
Specific Tasks
- Assist Asylum Seekers to move in to dispersed accommodation provided by Target Housing
- Induct tenant in to Target Housing accommodation. Explaining house rules and terms of occupancy agreement.
- Carry out regular visits (twice monthly) to ensure the accommodation is in good general repair and complete a welfare visit.
- Build links with external organisations providing services to asylum seekers and refugees to maintain constructive working relations so that clients’ needs are met.
- Assist tenants with GP registration in their local area. Offer support with any urgent health care needs by contacting relevant local services.
- Provide tenant with details of local service that offer help and support to Asylum seekers, including education providers and English classes.
- Ensure tenants have access to correct funds for living expenses.
- Support clients to understand their rights and responsibilities under their accommodation arrangements.
- Report maintenance issues within accommodation.
- Ensure visits and events are properly recorded and signed, and copied to relevant officers in the organisation.
- Assist the tenants to find alternative accommodation with local authority or private rental, when the accommodation arrangements come to an end.
- Close cases accordingly with service delivery procedures and contractual obligations
General Tasks
- Attend and participate in training sessions or activities as required.
- Participate in team meetings and supervision as required.
- Perform other such duties as may be required to further the aims of Target Housing.
- Adhere to all of Target Housing’s policies and procedures and in particular our Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality and Health and Safety policies.
- Carry out other such duties as directed by senior managers as appropriate to the aims of Target Housing.
Person Specifications
- Experience of providing support to vulnerable people
- Understanding of challenges ethnic minorities may face.
- Understanding of immigration regulations and the asylum seeking process (Desirable)
- Understanding of Child Protection legislation in the UK (Desirable)
- Knowledge of Health and Safety in accommodation (Desirable)
- No criminal records
- Full British Clean Driving License
- Satisfy Immigration and rights to work in the UK
