Job Description: Procurement & Stock Control Specialist

Role Overview:
This is a key hire at an exciting time of growth. The company has ambitious plans to scale, and we are seeking an experienced procurement and stock control professional who can not only take ownership of current systems and processes, but also lead their evolution as the business expands.
You will be responsible for the full procurement and stock lifecycle across two operational sites - from sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to overseeing stock visibility, system management, and internal coordination. Acting as the central point of contact across departments, you will bring structure, reliability, and insight to a critical area of the business, while helping to drive cost-efficiency and operational readiness for future growth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Source, negotiate, and manage supplier agreements for all business purchasing needs.
- Maintain supplier portals and manage contracts, including regular performance reviews.
- Monitor supplier lead times, consolidate supply orders, and communicate logistics to the project planning team.
- Work with internal teams to convert purchasing needs into clear, timely orders.
- Sign off deliveries after goods are checked by operational staff and communicate accordingly.
- Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives and ensure spend control.
Stock Control & Systems Management
- Roll out and take ownership of a new stock management system (integrated with WorkPal and Sage).
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels, transactions, and movement across both sites.
- Act as the central point of contact for all stock enquiries - ensuring full visibility and control over materials.
- Coordinate returns, damaged goods, or issues reported from on-site teams.
- Produce regular stock reports and analysis to inform planning and budgeting.
Leadership & Communication
- Oversee and coordinate junior staff involved in procurement or stock handling.
- Provide senior management with clear reporting on procurement activity, stock trends, and any operational risks.
- Work closely with Finance to align purchasing data with budgets and cost reporting.
- Liaise with operational planning to align deliveries and procurement timelines with project schedules.
Essential Criteria
- CIPS qualified (Level 4 minimum)
Experience
- Proven experience in procurement and stock control
- Experience using Sage and digital stock systems
- Demonstrated ability to implement or roll out new systems
Knowledge
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles and purchasing cycles
- Budget awareness and spend analysis
Skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Highly organised, process-driven
- Strong IT skills – confident in stock databases and reporting tools
Desirable Criteria
Qualifications
- Degree in Supply Chain / Business
Experience
- Experience working across multi-site operations
- Familiar with WorkPal
- Experience training or supervising others
Knowledge
- Knowledge of building materials / technical products (if industry-specific)
- Project-based purchasing
