To operate and monitor process plant equipment and systems to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous production of products in line with quality and safety standards
Duties
- Operate and monitor process plant equipment, control systems, and instrumentation.
- Start up, shut down, and adjust plant operations according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Carry out regular inspections of plant equipment and report abnormalities.
- Take readings, samples, and measurements to monitor process parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, flow rates).
- Record and report production data, logs, and incidents accurately.
- Conduct routine maintenance and assist in troubleshooting and minor repairs.
- Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams during breakdowns or shutdowns.
- Follow all safety, quality, and environmental standards, including hazard control and emergency procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce downtime or waste.
- Ensure cleanliness and housekeeping standards are maintained in the work area.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
- GCSEs or equivalent in English, Maths, and Science (essential)
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Process Operations or related discipline (desirable)
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., COMAH, COSHH, IOSH, or confined space training) are advantageous
Experience:
- Previous experience in a process, manufacturing, or production environment (1–3 years preferred)
- Experience with control room operations, DCS/SCADA systems, or batch/continuous processing systems (advantageous)
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong awareness of process safety and risk management
- Good mechanical aptitude and technical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read technical documentation and follow SOPs
- Effective communication and teamwork
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
- Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in real-time
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods
- Physically fit to operate equipment and handle materials
- Comfortable working in high-temperature, noisy, or chemically sensitive environments (with appropriate PPE)
Working Hours:
- Shift-based work (including nights, weekends, and holidays if required)
- Rotating shift patterns may apply (e.g., 4-on 4-off)
- Shift times - 06:00hrs - 18:00hrs, 18:00hrs - 06:00hrs
Salary and Benefits:
- £35,000 – £40,000 per annum]
